Kaluki Rummy

Play Kaluki Rummy
My family has played this since before I was born. It’s practically a tradition at get-togethers, I’ve never seen or heard of anyone else who plays it, though.

The game is similar to Kaluki Rummy, but there are huge differences.

The game: 2 decks are used with jokers.
Players = Unlimited, 2 can play but as many as 7 can play also.

Each player starts with 100 dollars. Ante is set, usually 10$ each.

There is no actualy betting during the game, the winner is paid by the losers, depending on the hand they won with.

Each hand is for points. The object is to not reach 100 points. If you reach 100 points you’re "Out". Points are given on whatever unmatched cards are left in your hand when someone else wins.
for example, if someone else won and I had this in my hand=
A-A-A, 4-4-4-4, 3-3-7, I take a penalty for the unmatched 3’s and the 7, giving me 13 points.

If you WIN a hand, you get a certain amount of NEGATIVE points.

Dealer deals everyone 10 cards, gives self 11.

Object of the game is to get melds (must be same suit) and collections of the same card (Q-Q-Q, 2-2-2-2, etc)

The game starts when the dealer throws a card, face up, to the person on the dealer’s left. That person can either take it, or draw a face-down card from what’s left of the deck.

Once that’s done, that player will throw a card from their OWN hand to the person on THEIR left, who will take it from the table or a face-down from the deck, again.

This continues until the first player gets a winning hand, declared "GIN".

You can "Kaluki Rummy" in several ways, each with a different payoff required from all other players who still have money.

1) "FLUSH", where all 10 cards are the same suit. There is no need for actual melds, and no bonus for having them. In the event of a FLUSH, You get =

20 dollars from each loser and
Negative 25 points to your score.

If you have 3 or more jokers, it’s 25.

2) You can "GIN" with combinations of melds and groups of like cards of 3 or 4 typically. (5 and 5 is also allowed but not common)

If you Kaluki Rummy, you get 10$ from every player, and Negative 10 points.
